The bpma held its annual awards at the Trade Only National Show at the Ricoh Arena on the 27th January. Leading comedienne Ruby Wax presented the prestigious event in front of a packed audience. Top supplier Listawood picked up British manufacturer of the Year and Company of the Year. Top distributors, Brand Addition, Allwag and Falcon Promotions also celebrated success. Innovative product went to a highly creative shopping bag by Wallace Cameron and Campaign of the Year went to Brand Inc for its Lions rugby promotion. Everything Environmental won Green company of the Year again.

Promota members have reacted angrily to communication to its members over the failed merger talks with the bpma. Long standing Promota member and leading catalogue group George Hayward has called for a vote of no confidence in the current Promota Board. Lawrence Angelow managing director of the Advantage catalogue group has resigned his membership. Gill Thorpe, Chair of the bpma spelt out the bpma vision for 2010 at the Christmas Lunch in London on the 19th December.

The bpma has recently announced its 25 year members. Last year the bpma launched a new 10 year logo for members. The new 25 year logo will go to 28 members among them Tradewinds, Totnoll Promotions, B-Loony, Procurement, Mitreprize, EMC and Coventry Silvercraft to name just a few.

Bpma launches its most highest profile membership campaign. The last 6 months has seen considerable growth in membership. Over £2000 worth of vouchers supported by bpma supplier members will be offered in the first 3 months of the year to new and existing distributors of the bpma. Director General, Gordon Glenister stated that 2009 was a bad year for the industry but that although the recovery is likely to be fragile, suppliers and distributors need to support each other. The voucher offer is a small token to help just this.
